Who runs this site

Black Indie Romance is run by Black romance authors. We started it because finding romance with Black women at the center of the love story still takes too much digging, and because the indie side of the genre is full of books more readers should know about.

Every list is built around what you actually want to know before you start a book: the tropes, the heat level, the content notes, whether it's in Kindle Unlimited, and whether you're getting a happily ever after.

How we pick

We curate from blurbs, tropes, heat level, series details and our own reading. When a note on this site says one of us has read a book, it's true. When we haven't, we don't pretend to have. We don't publish reader reviews, ratings or quotes we didn't get from a real reader.

Because we're authors, some books we feature are written by members of our team. They appear where they genuinely fit, alongside other authors' books, and every page that includes one says so. You can read the full details on our disclosure page.
